HI,

Thanks for the useful tool & tips, you already saved me a pain with the (not very well documented) exchmig_conallatt.....

I'm testing a migration with DUS (Exc2003 to Domino 8.5.1). Today I'm struggling with Contacts Folders, the IBM Redbooks suggests either a copy to a dummy mail file contacts' or export with VCF. I'm sure that few days ago, during one of my first tests, I could successfully import some contacts that I had copied from a contacts folder to personal contacts, and had them synched with Notes but now the magic is gone and I can't work it out anymore: the 27,000 contacts get imported with "Memo" form in the All Documents view, with only few mail fields in the document. AND I cannot click 27,000 times on the Save button while importing from vcfs.....

I add that Outlook Contacts being created in the mailfile with the New button are correctly imported as Notes contacts.

Any clue?

<dc:subject>How much would you pay for a service that only exists out of your fault? </dc:subject>

Ask to speak to a manager. I used to work at a resort (in the US) and we returned all kinds of things. I pretty sure we never charged, and if we did it would have been whatever the shipping was - no more than that. But chances are your regular front desk person doesn't have the authority to wave whatever default 'handling' charge crap they are trying to give you. A manager will realize the service issue here and likely wave the charges to make you a happy and hopefully returning customer.

Another idea is if yoiu know someone nearby, to ask them to pick it up (should be free) and have them ship it to you. Then you'll owe them a favor, but it still might cost you less than those bogus shipping charges.

Ed, as you know everyone's mileage varies. I've yet to see one of my (SMB) customers to consolidate servers just because of 20-30% disk usage improvement with Domino 8.x. Usually they're happy to have more free disk space. And that's just an improvement for the moment. Over time disk space requirements will still increase, probably a little bit flatter now.

And with dual core CPUs being unavailable (at least from IBM), higher PVU prices for Nehalem CPUs and now this 15% increase Domino installations are getting more and more expensive just because servers get replaced after the end of their life or leasing period.

Add to this that 30% increase from iNotes to Notes CALs and the fact that there are usually zero Designer clients in these environments and you'll hear a lot of pro MS or pro Google comments in the future. At least from this market.
